Jessica
Veterinary Assistant
Jessica Johnston grew up in rural Nebraska where wide open spaces and the farming community shaped her deep appreciation for animals of all sizes from an early age. Although she is just beginning her professional journey in veterinary medicine without formal education and experience, she brings with her a lifetime of hands-on animal care.
Throughout her life, she has been the proud pet owner of many cats and dogs. She currently has a cat named Vada and a dog named Harvey. She is also a dedicated horse owner and actively participates in training and working with him, as well as many other horses at the facility where her horse is boarding. Through this experience she has gained a strong understanding of animal behavior and the importance of calm, confident handling.
She often assists a friend with her hog barns, gaining practical experience in daily livestock management, health observation, and all the work required to run a healthy and successful operation.
Jessica has held multiple caretaking roles—centered around people—in her previous work positions, having worked with the elderly as a CNA as well as with infants and children in school, nanny, and daycare environments. Many of her previous roles have focused on individuals who required more intensive or specialized care. Jessica even enrolled in military training previously, but was forced to withdraw after several months due to injury.
Jessica brings a variety of experiences to her new team at the veterinary clinic, and is eager to combine her lifelong love of animals with new professional skills. She is committed to learning, growing, and providing compassionate care to every animal she encounters.
